As I stood on the deck of the boat touring this large man made lake in the West Australian outback. I spotted a Kangaroo with her joey sitting on the rocky escarpment. It was an instant connection to my childhood memories caring for baby kangaroos. I just had to take a photograph and then I just had to paint it. The play of light on the rocks and the colour combinations inspired me to try a fat over lean technique for this painting.
