'In the blink of an eye.'

The Swift Parrot is indigenous to Tasmania and has been a threatened species in the Apple Isle for a number of years. In recent times, concerted efforts have been made to save this remarkable bird through dedicated breeding programs and land conservancy initiatives.

I have titled this painting 'In the Blink of an Eye' because unless we all make meaningful changes to conserve the environment we live in, these beautiful creatures could vanish — quite literally, in the blink of an eye.

The inspiration for painting this parrot came from a book I read 'King of the Wilderness,' about Deny King a naturalist conservationist and  artist who lived in remote Melaleuca in the Bathurst Harbour and Port Davey Region of Tasmania.  Deny King became well known for his efforts to save the swift parrot and conserve the environment in which they lived.

 I love painting the swift parrot. This little piece is 12"x12" and is painted on cotton gallery wrapped canvas in acrylics and oils. It comes ready to hang.
