ABOUT The Artist
Jeanette was raised in the beautiful Huon Valley in Tasmania. The daughter of a saw miller her formative years were spent exploring the bush and learning to appreciate wild life and her environment.
Jeanette became interested in art from a very early age., often spending hours sketching subjects on any available piece of paper, by the time she was13 she had accumulated enough sketches to fill an entire suitcase. Then in 1967 bush fire's tore through much of Tasmania and the family home was destroyed, along with her early history of her love of art.
The Hobart Museum and Art Gallery was her inspiration in her early years, she found herself drawn to the Art Gallery studying the Old Masters. Michelangelo, Leonardo De Vinci, Monet and Constable among her favorites. She studied brush strokes, the play of light, color and composition and dreamed of one day being an artist.
In her early twenties she began landscape painting in oils taking as many art courses as possible, when time permitted with her young family. She studied under Joan Humble and other local artists in Tasmania. Then later on-line with Andrew Tischler.
In 2013 Jeanette travelled with her husband to Italy and France. Visiting galleries in Florence, Rome, and Paris. Fulfilling a life time dream of visiting the homeland of her favourite artists from the Renaissance.
Although light, water, reflections, and color in the landscape have driven her choice of subject previously. Now in her 70's she has discovered a new passion for Abstract and Mixed Media Art. Through this new passion Jeanette has embraced a new freedom in her Artistic expression exploring emotion, form, movement and colour.
