Tenderness, Lake Argyle West Australia

"Tenderness". As I stood on the deck of the boat touring this large man made lake Argyle in the West Australian outback I spotted a mother kangaroo with her joey sitting on the rocky escarpment. It was an instant connection to my childhood memories caring for baby kangaroos. The tenderness of the image, the play of light on the rocks and the color combinations inspired me, I just had to take a photograph and then I just had to paint it. I used a  fat over lean technique for this painting.
